WHO WOULD WANT TO WRITE BOOKS?
After three years writing and a year of editing, my novel has finally hit the bookshelves. Thanks to AM the finished product looks great and the marketing support has been fantastic. For example, this blog.
However, trying to sell it has been a real challenge. As AM is a British publisher, I need to pay for shipment to Australia. That means, to make any profit, i have to charge an off-putting price. As does any bookseller here.
The book has been selling well - 50 at the launch and about 20 from personal local sales. No idea how many have been sold online through Amazon, etc.
But I’ve had some luck. A friend has read the book and was struck by two things - the references to India and to cricket. He worked for 12 years in India and has some great literary contacts.
With 1.3 billion people, mostly cricket fans, it could be my big breakthrough?
